Business Directories – Which ones should I use?

The internet can be a powerful tool for marketing your business. There is a wealth of resources out there that will help your business get found and drive new clients towards your practice. One very useful avenue of support is signing up for business directories, but which ones should you use?

Google My Business 

Google my business is easily the most important directory to sign up for. Primarily will this give you a local listing, so you business can be found on local searches. In addition to this, having an active account will increase you off site SEO and give you a higher ranking in Google searches. An easy way to get started here is to register your business and encourage customers to leave reviews. The more quality reviews you have the better.

Facebook

As strange as this link may seem in concept, Facebook is fast becoming a big player in the online directory game. By signing your business up here, you will not only being improving your company’s search-ability, but developing a social media presence too. Much the same as Google, make sure your Facebook information for your business is up to date, and you are encouraging clients (past and present) to leave positive reviews for you here too.

Other mentions

There are no shortage of directories to sign up for online. Yell is the largest online directory, but may involve charges to use, unlike the previously mention free options Bing has its own version of Google my business, which could be especially useful to those with a large number of clients using this browser to search.
