SBN Executive

These are the roles and duties of the SBN Executive

 

Chair (Executive Officer)

  • Lead the SBN, ensuring SBN has clear aims, objectives, policies and practices
  • Promote a reflective, open and inclusive culture in the organisation
  • Chair two open meetings a year and bi-monthly meetings of the Executive
  • Uphold the SBN Constitution
  • Set agendas in consultation with the Executive
  • Meet and greet visitors at events
  • Be “front of house” for seminars and events
  • Give media interviews and public presentations as required
  • Receive emails in SBN mailbox
  • Be one of the signatories for SBN bank account

Secretary (Executive Officer)

  • Issue agendas and minutes
  • Ensure action points are carried out
  • Act as point of contact for members of SBN
  • Act as point of contact for external agencies and bodies, democratic representatives, and outside speakers
  • Maintain agreed policies and practices e.g Data protection, Events Calendar
  • Maintain SBN affiliation with other bodies and agencies as agreed
  • Maintain a register of attendees at all SBN events
  • Receive and respond to emails in SBN mailbox
  • Be one of the signatories for SBN bank account
  • Meet and greet visitors at events

Treasurer (Executive Officer)

  • Prepare annual accounts (subject to external audit) for the calendar year for presentation to the AGM
  • Maintain the SBN Bank account receiving monies and paying out monies as approved by the Executive
  • Provide updates on the financial position of SBN at meetings of the Executive
  • Seek opportunities for SBN to access grants, awards, and other external sources of funding
  • Be one of the signatories for SBN bank account
  • Meet and greet visitors at events

Web Manager

  • Maintain and update the SBN web-site with business news, reports, events and opportunities
  • Maintain and update the SBN web-site directory of local businesses
  • Liaise with the SBN membership secretary as necessary
  • Capture necessary information from new SBN members who require a web-site listing
  • Receive emails in SBN mailbox
  • Report on SBN web-site analytics as required
  • Meet and greet visitors at events

Media Spokesperson

  • Issue press releases, statements and notices (including flyers) relating to the activities of SBN
  • Engage with the media in all its forms at a local, sub-regional, regional and national level, as appropriate, to promote the activities of SBN
  • Provide bi-monthly copy about SBN to the local SCAN magazine
  • Advise on and develop the use of social media, as agreed, to promote the objectives of the SBN
  • Meet and greet visitors at events

Membership Secretary

  • Ensure membership forms are available at all SBN events
  • Maintain the SBN membership database
  • Inform the web-manager straightaway of all new SBN members
  • Promote SBN recruitment initiatives
  • Erect the SBN banner at all events
  • Meet and greet visitors at events

Events Secretary

  • Inform SBN members in advance about SBN meetings and events
  • Liaising with the Secretary, make any necessary bookings and arrangements at venues for events
  • Liaising with the Secretary, make any necessary arrangements with outside guests and speakers at SBN events
  • Meet and greet visitors at events
  • Check at any event that all members of the Executive are fulfilling their roles in relation to events
  • Receive emails in SBN mailbox

Minutes Secretary

  • Draft the minutes of the proceedings of the AGM and any other open meetings
  • Draft the minutes of meetings of the Executive
  • Pass all draft minutes to the Secretary for scrutiny and dispatch
  • Meet and greet visitors at events
